Welcome, boxing fans, to BOXING.COM's chat with Angel Manfredy!

[ BOXING.COM ]
We are just getting Angel on the line, and we'll be ready to roll in just a few minutes...

[ BOXING.COM ]
Thanks for waiting, fans. Angel is preparing to enter the chat!!

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
The fight with Lacen at 135 lbs. Are you moving up to Lightweight?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
No, I'm not moving up as lightweight unless there's a great opportunity at lightweight, meaning a world title shot.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Angel, i went to see your Gatti fight with Ruban Galvan- Q: I see that Mason is 11-0, do you know anything more about his recent fights?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
No, I do not, and no, I don't care, I will be ready.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
You gotta make the Prince mad. Next time Larry Merchant interviews you, what are you going to do?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Well, I'm basically going to the the same thing, and keep on calling him out, when is he going to fight a true champion, a true fighter, not old men!

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Who are you interested in most fighting?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Basically right now, the head I want is mainly Prince, mainly Gatti again, mainly Hernandez. We wanted to fight Nelson, but he lost, so we'll take Lejia instead.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
did you break your hand in the Gatti fight?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
No, I only dislocated a bone in my lower finger near the wrist.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Angel I have heard of 'El Diablo' wear, where is this merchandise available?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Well, right now El Diablo wear merchandise is being redesigned and is unavailable at this time. In the near future, we will have a new line, and will post it on the web site, and make sure everybody hears about it. Right now, the older stuff is being redesigned. Find out about it at www.eldiabloboxing.com.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
I'm interested in getting into fighting shape, could you tell me what your workout routine is like?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Oh man! It's like hell!! Basically, you wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, go to Norton Smith in Chicago and o my 3-mile running, my upper body endurance and all of my weight training on upper and lower body every day. After 3 hours of working out doing my cardio and training, I then go for something to eat, come back two hours later and go to the boxing gym. And there is where I train for another 3.5 hours, sparring, hitting the bag. Jab bags, speed bags, rope for half hour. Also shadow boxing and pad work as well. Good luck!! I wake up around 9:00 in the morning...

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
What rival fighter do you have the most respect for?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I would say Generro Hernandez, because of his good boxing skills, tall height, good reach, but has lack of power.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
What kind of opponent might you face in your headline Turner match?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I am headlining the Turner, and will be fighting. My opponent's name is Jeff Mason from Chicago, Illinois. And it will be my 7th title defence. It will be in Madison Square Garden, September 22.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Do you have a deal with HBO?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
No I do not, and hopefully as what I know, my promoter is sticking with HBO and trying to get a deal for 4 fights, hoping to work it out with HBO, because they've been good to me.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Do you eat differently before a fight?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Yes, my trainer is also a nutrionist, and he puts me on a good diet. I do not starve myself, but eat good. It's a secret what I eat.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Your trademark tattoos are world famous. Can you tell us a little bit about them?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Devil's side: right arm, right shoulder I have tribal art going around the shoulder which means power. Under tribal says champ, one horn on the C, one horn on the P. Two world titles, two dates. Under that tribal art, basically means flying, going with the flow. Under that one, Chinese symbol which means to protect. Next to that one is the devil, which is the picture of myself. That's the devil, in flames, going through the devil, going through his whole boxing career. Going through the flames is O,G,C,J,M. Only God Can Judge Me. Behind my tricep is also a devil-woman. And that means woman in boxing will bring you down. I had my experiences.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
How did you get hooked up with Boxing.com?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
This is John, Angel's manager. I scour the Internet for boxing-related news and stories about Angel and his career. And I encountered BOXING.COM, several months ago, and was very impressed with the site. I invited Angel over to see what the site has to offer, and to illustrate the Internet's ability to reach fans around the world. And hence the reason for having our own site.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
WHAT WAS YOUR TOUGHEST FIGHT?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
All of them are my toughest fight. It can be mentally, physically, they're all tough, and I prepare for all of them. I treat them as if they're all world championship fights.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
What changed the most in your life after you became champ?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Basically, everything, life itself. People around me. More temptations, more dealing with life. It became harder for me and the harder it gets, the better I get...

[ BOXING.COM ]
We've done a lot of research on you and your career. It comes down to you're as good a person as you are a boxer, working with the homeless and so forth. Could you tell us about that?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Well, giving back to the people in the community and the region is the way I give back at some of the things I was going through in life when I was the devil and on the streets. So I feel giving back to my people and the whole world, talking to kids, and letting them know about my life and what I've been going through in my life can easily get them prepared for what they have to go through in life so they can stop before they return to the devil, and turn into an angel.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Who is the nicest boxer you have met?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Again, I would like to say Generro Hernandez. I met him in California. Also Macho Camacho. Crazy, but nice. I met him in Chicago, and also his son, Camacho Jr. as well, I met him in Puerto Rico. With Hernandez, I was on vacation, whatever vacation, I need to be around boxing, training, I think the LA boxing club. That's when Hernandez came up to me, I thought he was a cool guy, deep down, a natural guy, real cool. But in the ring I'm not a nice guy, I can beat him. Also, George Foreman, Roy Jones too.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
When do you think you'll fight the Prince, you sort of got left out of the McKinney/Gatti/Kelly HBO tourney.

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I basically don't know when I'll fight the Prince because he's still running. He doesn't want anything to do with me, and I don't see why, so basically why would he fight Gatti, who lost to me, instead of me? Obviously, his people are scared, they'd rather fight losers instead of winners.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
At one time your record was 2-2-1 you made a great turn around. How?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I stopped beating myself, and beat my way off the streets. Every day I go through trials and tribulations and I went over them. That's how I turned my life around. The only person that can beat me is me, and I won't let that happen again. Because that's scary, facing me.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
You have a lot of flair in the ring. Tell us about your trademark socks? What's the deal.

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
When you see the red shoes, the red socks, you see the flames on top of the shorts. That represents hell, on the bottom always on the bottom. Then you see it turn to light, that's heaven on the top, will always be on the top. One day, you will see me as a pure white angel. One day.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Prior to every fight during introduction, you're looking towards the sky. Who are you looking to? To heaven, or someone in the past?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I'm looking up to the lord, I have my fist up straight in the air when they're announcing me, and I'm letting him know I'm here, it's my time. And when my arms come straight down very fast, the power comes to me, and it's time. My time.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
What do you do to relax, do you have any hobbies?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
What relaxes me the most is watching boxing fights. And, going into church, speaking with the Lord. I have three kids, Celeste, Marina and Angel the IInd. And also the mother of my kids, Yvette.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
You should put 'Prince sucks' on your trunks, in your next fight.

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I should put Prince's face burning in my flames, since he's part of hell that he worships! He worships hell.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
What is the best part of boxing?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Best part of boxing to me is fighting in front of millions and millions of people around the world, live on HBO, showing that I am the best champion, the best fighter in my weight class.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
You are still young, what do you plan on doing after boxing?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I'm not looking that far right now, all in my mind in this 23 year old mind is to stop all the politics in boxing and to bring it back to the old days, the Haglers, the Hearns, the best of the best. And that's what I would like it to be , the best of the best. Until then, I'm still living in the present, waiting for all the true champions to fight me so that I can be the best fighter, like when Arturo Gatti fought me. Now let the rest of the best fighters fight me. But they're all afraid. Not the fighters themselves, the people that handle them as well.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
I think the prince's defense is in need of work, what do you think about his defense?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
I think his defence, offence, skills, technique all suck if he fights Angel "the devil" Manfredy. He needs to live up to his name, the Prince of all Kings, instead of the Princess, the woman of kings. After he fights me, he will be known as Formerly the Princess.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Who got you started in boxing?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
My father. He got me off the streets after a street fight. After I was beating up on somebody, and wiping off my opponent's blood. At the age of 9 years old, my father took me off the streets and put me onto boxing.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Naz seems to have a larger following then you, why do you think that is?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Well, the reason why Naz has more following than me is because in England, where his following is coming from, there's not many champions as in the US. Besides that, like I said, he has a lot of people that don't know anything about boxing fooled. If you don't know anything about boxing, you'll be in his corner, bet your money on his corner, and lose it all.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
Your dad is a big boxing fan. Is he a fan now, and what part does he play?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
He is my number one fan in my career. He plays a very big part of my life. He made me, he raised me to be who I am today. And I thank him for all the things he has given me, putting my life together.

BOXING.COM Fan ]
What type of music is that i hear you playing before a fight?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
It all depends on the opponent. And what he brings into the fight. That basically I decide what music will make me feel good going into the ring, and letting my opponents know that they really hear the music, and there's no chance for them to win. There's all different types of music, rap or pop.

[ BOXING.COM Fan ]
You are very open about your past. Is there anything you'd like to tell people out there?

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Always be positive. Never look back, always look forward. Always climb up, never fall down. Keep going in what you believe in. Always believe in yourself, don't let anybody bring you down. Always have one person in your life. That's the Lord. With him, you'll always be number one, instead of number two. God Bless. Bye!

[ Angel "El Diablo" Manfredy ]
Bring on the Prince! Bring on Gatti! Bring on Hernandez! Stop running, there's only one man in town that's the best, and that's me. I'll fight you anywhere, any place, it doesn't matter. Angel's not protected, he wants to fight the best, be the best, prove all over the world what a true champion is supposed to be. So I'll be waiting...

[ BOXING.COM ]
